Does my mom's boyfriend have any legal rights when it comes to parenting me?

I live in Michigan, in case the laws differ.Does my mom's boyfriend have any legal rights when it comes to parenting me?
No (and I'm a step-parent of 3 kids)....

You didn't give specifics leading up to the incident, but In my opinion he was way out of line. You don't give your age, but it sounds like inappropriate behavior.

If things get further than what you described, you might need to talk to someone other than your Mom or Dad.

Hang in there,Does my mom's boyfriend have any legal rights when it comes to parenting me?
It depends. Are you talking parental rights as in visitation or as to giving you punishment for not doing your chores?

If your mother allows him to act in loco parentis, in her stead, then he has the right to watch over you and tell you when, where and how to behave yourself, just as your grandparents, your school, or a babysitter would.

If you are talking about legal rights, then he has no legal right to sign legal documents, like parental consent for an operation.

whale
NO! I am certain of it. If it is in means respect him. If he is bossing you around like he has been there for a million years and talk to you crappy, DON't listen to him!

Just ignore him! Now if your out smoking crack, that's different, but if he is telling you when to go to bed, he can perch!
No he doesn't.

And your mom should know better. She should either marry him or stop living with him if she has kids of her own. Bad idea to let the boyfriend dicipline her kids.

Where's your dad?
Not really, but if your mom is letting him discipline you, there isnt much you can do. Thats really not his place...your mom needs to step up.
No.

Even if she were to marry him, step-parents still have no legal authority in parenting a child.
No a boyfriend has no legal rights over his girlfriends child. Unless he is the biological father.
He sure does NOT!
